Get to know the personalities, favorite things, and little quirks of the animals who call Flora & Fauna home.
Pot Belly Pig / Mini Pig · Female
Likes: Fresh fruit snacks, long-long day naps, endless belly rubs and biting toes when you aren’t giving her enough attention
Dislikes: Getting splashed, making her move, touching her bed, bumpy food, or sharing anything.
Pot Belly Pig / Mini Pig · Male
Likes: FOOOOOD. Screaming for food when it isn’t readily available, searching for food, digging for food, and most definitely scarfing down food so he can find more food. Sometimes naps. And mud baths—the muddier the better.
Dislikes: Not having food and trying to be tricked into pets instead of given food.
Pot Belly Pig / Mini Pig · Male
Likes: Learning about new foods, long dips in the pool, and personal space
Dislikes: Trying to turn him into a softy with sweet words and snuggles
Vietnamese Pot Belly Pig · Female
Likes: Soft forehead rubs, bananas, peace and quiet, sunshine naps, mud baths, and solitary dinner time
Dislikes: Loud noises and fast movement, nail trims, and when her pig siblings boss her around
Potbelly Pig / Mini Pig · Male
Likes: People, wide-open fields to run wild, getting filthy in the mud and splashing around in a pool, all the rubs from head-to-toe, snuggling with anyone and everyone, and snacks of every shape and size.
Dislikes: He dislikes being told no, and throws a fit like a human 5-year-old when he hears it! Other than that, he just loves life!
Hampshire / Farm Pig · Male
Likes: All water activities! Swimming in the pond, getting hosed down, lounging in a kiddy pool, blowing bubbles in his water troughs, and flopping around in the mud. He also loves all treats, but watermelons and bananas are his absolute favorite.
Dislikes: Rainy and cold weather, because it makes his joints hurt extra bad.
Large White / Yorkshire Farm Pig · Female
Likes: Long days at her mud spa, juicy fruits, squashing whole pumpkins and watermelons in her giant mouth, and chowing down on all the kitchen scraps from the day, her best friend Gus, and drinking right from the water hose (even though she’s not supposed to)
Dislikes: Anyone touching her things, especially her bed! She takes great care in making her room just the way she likes it every night, and doesn’t care if she steals all the hay from her roommate’s side of the barn. She doesn’t share, and she doesn’t feel bad about it either.
Hampshire Mix / Farm Pig · Male
Likes: All animals and people, all snacks, puzzles, toys, mud baths and then cleaning off in his clean water trough, and endless belly rubs and ear scratches.
Dislikes: Being bossed around by his big sister, being last in a race he made up, and having to be patient.
Charolais Cattle · Female
Likes: Head, ear, and back scratches, fresh hay, destroying toys, talking to the neighbor cows, animal friends and cucumbers!
Dislikes: New people, being sprayed for flies, having new things forced on her—she likes to be in control and explore on her own timeline.
Black Angus Cattle · Female
Likes: Cuddles, love, and attention!
Dislikes: Being ignored or alone
Dorper Sheep · Female
Likes: Eating wildflowers, stealing the pigs’ food if you give her any opportunity to do so, following her goat and cow friends on adventures, and long naps under a shady tree.
Dislikes: Being told she isn’t allowed to eat pig food, being left behind by her friends, and definitely doesn’t like being left alone, though she’s never had to be alone in her life with us.
Nigerian Dwarf Goat · Female
Likes: Getting into trouble and searching for it when she can’t find any. Jumping into or onto all things, headbutt wars, snuggles, and leading her animal friends around the pastures.
Dislikes: Being told no, respecting personal boundaries, being left behind and not being the center of attention
American Pygmy Goat · Male
Likes: Being with his herd and taking a back seat—he doesn’t want to make the decisions. He also likes getting pets, climbing his goat playground, and exploring new types of treats, as long as his friends are doing it too!
Dislikes: Being left behind or alone
American Pygmy Goat · Male
Likes: He clearly likes the company of his animal family, but he would never let them know he needs them. He likes to be aloof and mysterious.
Dislikes: Does not like too much attention or being pressured into things.
Muscovy Duck · Female
Indian Runner Ducks · Females
Likes: Chasing bugs, fresh leafy greens, swimming pools and getting fresh water troughs dirty.
Dislikes: Dogs, being chased or handled, and being told to get out of the pigs’ fresh water troughs.
African / Domestic Goose · Male
Likes: All his animal friends, as long as he knows them well! He loves stealing hay right out of the cows’ mouths, long baths in his pool, catching frozen peas, scavenging for mealworms, and stealing the pigs’ food when given the chance!
Dislikes: New people or animals—including familiar animals that have been out of his eyesight. He must yell at them first before agreeing to love them again.
Krefft’s Gliders / Sugar Gliders · Female
Likes: Sweet things, yogurt bites, mealworms, hiding their treats around the cage, gliding from high spots and swinging around on fake vines. They love hunting live insects or lizards that get into their cage!
Dislikes: Not big fans of being handled, though they like to hang out in a pouch hanging around your neck—they love the body heat! They are nocturnal, so they don’t like bright lights, loud noises, or getting wet.
New Zealand / Californian Rabbit Mix · Female
Likes: Dandelions, wildflowers, and running wild and free.
Dislikes: Being picked up or approached too quickly.
Dutch Rabbits · Female
Likes: Cardboard enrichment boxes filled with treats and things to chew on.
Dislikes: Rosie dislikes being picked up and they both dislike loud noises or being approached too fast.
Domestic Short Hair Cat · Male
Likes: Attention, being held, going on walks, fresh treats and warmed food.
Dislikes: Being alone
Domestic Short Hair Cat · Female
Likes: Warm wet food, especially tuna! Pets and snuggles for an appropriate amount of time, and using teeth and claws to train her humans on proper manners.
Dislikes: When her food is cold, when her bowl is empty, and when humans aren’t serving her hand-in-foot.
Domestic Short Hair Cats · Male (Sugar), Female (Spice)
Likes: Sugar likes cuddles, endless attention, eating treats right out of your hand, playing with string toys, and lounging in the sun.
Dislikes: Sugar dislikes when his siblings try to hog the attention and food bowl, and Spice dislikes any form of affection or pretending like you’re friends.
Our dogs are part of the sanctuary family. We are not a dog rescue and do not accept dog intake requests.
Hound Dog Mix · Female
Likes: Stuffed animals, crunchy foods, running at full speed, personal space, learning new tricks, car rides, exploring new places, splashing in water
Dislikes: Vegetables, sharing her toys, wet or tall grass, and baths (why she loves water but hates baths is a mystery).
Yellow Lab Mix · Male
Likes: All the attention and constant head scratches, playing fetch, treats treats treats, all food—he eats first, asks questions later, car rides, and meeting new friends, animals and people alike!
Dislikes: Getting his nails trimmed, not being the center of attention, people or animals on the other side of the fence, and when anyone disrespects his favorite person.
Blue Heeler Mix · Female
Likes: The comfort of her dog pack, snuggles, puzzle toys, peanut butter
Dislikes: Car rides, being separated from her dog pack
Pit Bull Mix · Female
Likes: People, snuggles, treats, running at top speed through the big pasture, splashes in puddles, learning new tricks, car rides, and watching mom garden.
Dislikes: Being left alone, new animals, rain, cold, and being manhandled (which never has to happen because she is so well trained).
Mastiff / Poodle Mix · Male
Likes: Staring deep into his favorite people’s eyes, chewing anything he can find, melting into his humans’ personal boundaries—actually, what are boundaries? He doesn’t know.
Dislikes: Strangers, fireworks, being far away from his human
